Top Seeds Seeking Seoul Success
The top two seeds Annie Au and Low Wee Wern will do battle for the Women’s Seoul Open title after coming through today’s semi-finals of the $20,000 WISPA World Tour squash event in its fourth year in the South Korean capital Seoul.
Au, the event favourite from Hong Kong, clinched her third successive straight games win in the event with an 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 victory over Malaysia’s fourth seed Delia Arnold.
The 21-year-old world No21 already has three Tour titles under her belt this year – and was runner-up in last month’s Asian Games in China.
In the other semi-final, Malaysia’s second seed Low Wee Wern stopped third seed Donna Urquhart. But the 20-year-old world No15 from Penang needed four games to overcome the Australian, ranked just a single place below, 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7.
Low Wee Wern is celebrating her 11th Tour final, but her first this year.
The final will mark the two players’ fourth WISPA Tour meeting since May 2007, with Au boasting a 3/0 head-to-head lead.
