Day 2 at the Bukit Jalil Squash Courts. First upset of the day by the fiery Nicolette Fernandes of Guyana, beating Australia’s Donna Urquhart 11/7, 11/3, 11/8. Laura, Annie and Joelle are through as expected in good time! Perhaps it won’t be such a long day after all.

Strong leads by Raneem El Welily throughout; Joshna returns empty handed giving Raneem a pass to the next round with a 3-0 win.

A tougher battle ensues on the other side of the court with Dipika and Aisling tied at 1-1 each.

Dipika has taken the third set from Aisling in a close match. 13/11. The drama is all at this side of the court whilst Jenny Duncalf finishes her game against Line Hansen unnoticed – 4/11, 11/9, 11/0, 11/4. Dipika finally wraps it up in 47 minutes – 11/6, 3/11, 13/11, 11/9.

The longest match of the day so far! Rachael Grinham bt Sarah Kippax 7/11, 16/14, 9/11, 11/8, 11/7 (57m).

Some discontent on court 4 where Misaki is trying to dispute the ref’s call. Ref says her racquet was not ready, hence it does not warrant a let. ???? Looked ready to me. Sarah-Jane leads 7-5. Misaki desperately wants this but Sarah proves to be over-powering 10-6 now. Final unforced error gives Sarah the match – 11/9, 11/9, 4/11, 11/6.

Wee Wern and Emily are now in court 5 warming u after latest upset of the day: Joey Chan bt [8] Madeline Perry 11/9, 11/6, 9/11, 11/5.

In court 4 is Malaysia’s Delia Arnold vs our favourite Aussie player, Kasey Brown. Kasey leads 11/9 in the first game, albeit some confusion with the scores by the refs. A close second game with Kasey still leading, 11/9, 13/11…

Wee Wern is the first Malaysian to move to the next round 11/6, 11/6, 11/4.

Delia doesn’t make it though. Kasey takes the match 11/9, 13/11, 11/9.

Nour El Tayeb is up against compatriot Omneya. Love watching an all Egyptian match. The ball reaches all corners of the court! Nour is so passionate and it is great to see her take on Omneya full swing.

On court 4 now is Nicol David, top seed vs Lisa Aitken, England’s latest recruit. Nicol leads 11/6, 11/4 and is going into the third game now. Nicol ends it 11/6, 11/4, 11/7.

Omneya and Nour just ended their match after 63 minutes. Omneya pushes through to the finals with 6/11, 11/8, 6/11, 13/11, 11/4.

Looks like it is going to be an early night for us here as most of the games ended on time.

Here’s an instagram video of the last two matches of the day! :) Over and out and see you guys tmr!
