Malaysia’s Nicol David begins her sixth year as world number one this month, according to the new January Women’s World Squash Rankings published today by the Women’s International Squash Players’ Association (WISPA).

After a hectic few months of hopping from one continent to another, Nicol finally gets to sit down and blog about her Asian Games experience.

The latest WISPA rankings showcase some exciting changes with Madeline Perry breaking into the top 5 for the first time. Raneem El Weleily moves into the 10th spot while Low Wee Wern takes No. 20. Squash Stars Kasey Brown and Samantha Teran have also moved up the rankings—to No. 8 and No. 12 respectively.

The Hong Kong Open is a major tournament on the WISPA & PSA circuits and holds a special place in the hearts of many squash players and enthusiasts alike as they flock to this magnificent city every year for this prestigious event. This city is even more special to Nicol David who has continued her dominance in Hong Kong since winning her first World Open title here in 2005.
