Britain’s best squashies are gearing up to battle for national glory in the highly anticipated British National Squash Championships in Manchester.

Malaysian squash superstar Nicol David claimed the Australian Open title at her first attempt when she downed England’s Jenny Duncalf in straight games in Canberra on Sunday.

England are top seeds for the WSF Men’s World Team Squash Championship to be held later this month in Paderborn, Germany.

While Nick Matthew and Nicol David were honoured as Players of the Year at the annual World Squash Awards, it was local legends Frank Stella and Mark Talbott that stole the show at the dinner which attracted more than 150 leading figures from the squash world in the stunning Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal in New York.

The world’s leading players will be honoured at the sixth annual World Squash Awards which will take place in the stunning Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal, New York, on Thursday 20th January 2011.

Led by nine players from both the men’s and women’s world top 20 rankings, the cast list for next week’s Commonwealth Games Squash championships in Delhi will be world-class.
