Massaro Retakes No.2 after KL Open Title Triumph

Laura Massaro’s second World Series win in Malaysia at the weekend has seen the Englishwoman rise to No.2 in the WSA World Tour’s April rankings.The 29-year-old from Preston, England beat World No.1 Nicol David in the semi-final, before completing the title win which has seen her over-take Raneem El Weleily to hold the No.2 spot for the first time since October 2012.

Alison Waters rises to fourth place after beating Nour El Sherbini on her way to the KL Open final. The Egyptian teenager slips down a place to No.5 with Joelle King rising to No.6, leapfrogging Low Wee Wern.Annie Au drops out of the Top 10 for the first time since August 2011 after failing to match her 2012 KL Open final position. She drops to No.13, whilst Natalie Grinham rises two places to sit at No.10.A month featuring back-to-back WSA titles for Sarah-Jane Perry has seen the 22-year-old leap six ranking positions to break into the WSA Top 20 for the first time.

The Mayfair and Granite Club Open winner sits at No.20 following an excellent March, during which she also reached the semi-final of the inaugural CourtCare Open in Chorley, England. Perry has risen 46 ranking places in the last twelve months. Eventual CourtCare Open winner Emma Beddoes rises four places to No.30.

India’s Joshna Chinappa also set a new highest ranking by reaching No.25 in the world following a first round appearance in the KL Open, rising two places.
