The latest supporter of squash’s bid to join the Olympic programme is Mutthiah Muralitharan, previously awarded the greatest Test Match Bowler Ever by Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack in 2002.

The news that squash was not selected as one of two sports to go forward to the big IOC vote in October was disappointing enough. To learn that the sport failed to register a single vote at the IOC meeting in Berlin yesterday was devastating.

Update: It’s Golf and rugby in for 2016. Better luck for 2020, squash!
