Odense!
I was born on the 7th of May 1983 in Odense, Denmark. It was 4:25 pm, I was 52 cm long and weighed in at 3.5 kilograms—pretty normal baby, but food quickly caught my interest and soon I was a pretty fat baby!
I grew up in Odense—and still live there with my mum and stepdad and 2 sisters, needless to say there were quite a lot of fights between us girls. I was the strongest and also the only sporty one in the family, so I always won the fights but I was also always the one getting told off by our parents! So a pretty normal childhood with heaps of good memories.
It was a real coincidence that I started to play squash. I was 10 years old when one of my friends were playing at the Odense squash club and she asked me if I wanted to join her. I did and needless to say—loved it! I tried a lot of other sports but squash quickly became my favourite sport. A few of my family members also play but only for recreation.
Being a pro!
I still train at the Odense squash club and I also play for the club. I mainly train with my coach, Francesco Busi, and the boys. There are not many girls to hit with where I live, so if I need some practice matches, I’ll either go to Amsterdam to train with Aisling Blake and Nicol David or to London to have a hit with Lauren Briggs… and to have a good time of course!
I remember when I was younger, Ellen Petersen (former world no. 19) told me about all the different tournaments and countries she had been to, matches she had played. I thought it sounded amazing and I knew I would love to do the same thing one day.
Only thing is, it took me a while to realise that you actually have to work VERY HARD!!
I have no idea what the future will bring but I think I will always somehow be involved in squash in one way or another.
Handbags!
Like most girls I love to shop… Love it, love it, love it! I especially love HANDBAGS. For some reason, I always come home with one after I have been shopping!
I would love to be a bit more creative, but I guess I’m just a bit lazy.
I love doing other sports as well, but don’t feel I have the time for it at the moment. After a hard day of training you don’t really feel like being active again.
I’m a bad bad loser in anything I do! I might have a bit of a temper, but I’m happy most of the time ![]()
I’m pretty good at doing nothing and relaxing. Actually, I might be world champion at doing nothing! On a typical Sunday I get up, have breakfast and then go back to bed again! Or I get up, have lunch, move to the couch and watch TV. If I’m really active, I invite myself over for dinner to someone’s house, watch a movie and then back home to bed. Ah, perfect Sundays…
Then again, I can really only do this for a day or two, after that I need to do something active again.
Food!
My favourite holiday destination would be anywhere with nice weather, a nice beach, nice food, shopping and a bar!!
I LOVE food! Unfortunately, I’m not the best of cooks, so that is a bit of a problem. Luckily my parents, sisters and friends live nearby, so when they cook something nice, I’ll make sure to invite myself over ![]()
One of the good things about visiting so many countries is that you get to try a lot of different types of food. I pretty much go on a diet every Monday and the diet usually lasts till Tuesday….! So yeah, trying to watch what I eat but probably could do better ![]()
Unfortunately, I have to travel so much that I don’t get to go to as many music concerts as I would like. That’s one thing I’m gonna do more often once I retire!
Who do I fancy? Marat Safin, Marat Safin, Marat Safin! We are getting married one day! I also like actors Christian Bale and Eric Bana.
